Real jungle

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

I have only been in real jungle once and that was in Sarawak on the island of Borneo. It was quite impenetrable except by way of the tracks cut out by guides and rangers. Hot and sweaty too. Not the same I know but the vegetation on the gorilla trek in Uganda was not dissimilar. Visibility just feet away. And there on the mountainside, you clung on to that vegetation for dear life.

So if you see these war movies with platoons moving easily through clearings and along broad trails, just note that it is crap.
